Pressure and weather in Audubon

Audubon lies in Camden County on the flat inner coastal plain, four or five miles east of the Delaware River and directly across from Philadelphia, with the Pine Barrens beginning some way to the southeast. The elevation is barely thirty feet and the terrain offers no shelter at all, so weather systems pass through unmodified. This part of South Jersey sits in a genuinely awkward spot for winter storms: close enough to the coast that many nor'easters bring rain rather than snow, but far enough inland to occasionally stay cold, and the difference often comes down to a track shift of fifty miles. Those coastal lows are still the year's dominant pressure events, from December into March. Summer belongs to the Bermuda high, with humid air pumped up from the south, a nearly flat barometer for weeks, and afternoon thunderstorms that form along the sea breeze front pushing in from the Atlantic.

What this means for you

South Jersey's winter storms are frequent and their tracks are variable, which means plenty of pressure events to correlate against over a single season. Use the barometric pressure forecast to see the fall beginning while the storm is still off the Carolinas.
