Pressure and weather in Waukesha

Waukesha sits on the upper Fox River about twenty miles west of Milwaukee, on the rolling glacial terrain of the Kettle Moraine where the ice sheets left behind ridges, kettles and the springs the city was once famous for. Twenty miles inland does not sound like much, but it is enough to escape Lake Michigan's grip most of the time: when the lake breeze holds Milwaukee in the fifties on a spring afternoon, Waukesha is often fifteen degrees warmer, and its summer thunderstorms are more frequent because the stabilising lake air rarely reaches this far. Pressure changes come with the standard upper-Midwest sequence — Clippers through the winter, deeper Colorado lows in spring, and a strong autumn storm season in October and November. The rolling moraine ground also lets cold air pool in the kettles on calm nights, producing sharp local frost pockets that have nothing to do with the barometer.

What this means for you

Being just outside the lake's influence means Waukesha usually gets the storm without the marine damping, so pressure falls translate more directly into felt weather. Compare the trend line in Pressure Pal against your symptom log across a full autumn to see whether weather migraine days follow the drops.
