Wyndham sits in western Henrico County, on the rolling Piedmont just above the fall line where the hard rock of the uplands gives way to the coastal plain around Richmond. That position, roughly sixty miles from the Chesapeake Bay and a hundred from the Blue Ridge, puts it in one of the more contested spots on the eastern seaboard for winter weather: the boundary between rain and snow in a coastal storm frequently sets up right along the fall line, and Wyndham can end up on either side of it. The strongest pressure events of the year are those coastal lows, from December through early March. The other half of the calendar belongs to the Bermuda high, which parks offshore through July and August, pumps humid air up from the Gulf and holds the barometer nearly flat while producing daily afternoon thunderstorms that build over the Piedmont and drift east.
