Pressure and weather in Fraser

Fraser sits on the level clay lake plain of Macomb County, a few miles inland from the shallow water of Lake St. Clair and within the wider basin that connects Lake Huron to Lake Erie. Being surrounded by water on three sides at the regional scale gives southeastern Michigan a distinctly moderated climate, with later autumn frosts and cooler lake-cooled spring afternoons than places the same distance north inland. The pressure record is driven by the Great Lakes storm track, with lows moving northeast from the Ohio valley or the central plains, and by clippers dropping southeast from Alberta in the depths of winter. Lake St. Clair is too shallow to generate much lake effect snow of its own, but Huron-driven bands sometimes clip the northern part of the county. Spring and early summer carry the severe risk, and late summer often settles into humid, nearly motionless conditions for days.

What this means for you

Lake-moderated air makes temperature changes gentler here than the pressure changes would suggest. That can help isolate whether pressure alone is what matters to you.
