Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 26, 2026

Applies to: the Pressure Pal mobile app for iOS and Android (the "App") and the website at pressurepal.app (the "Site").

Pressure Pal helps you track migraines, headaches, joint pain, and other symptoms, and see how they line up with barometric pressure. Doing that means handling information about your health — some of the most sensitive data there is. This policy explains in plain language what we collect, why, how long we keep it, and how to have it deleted.

If anything here is unclear, email us at hello@pressurepal.app.

At a glance

  • We collect the symptom entries you create, your account identifier, and — with your permission — your location.
  • Your entries are stored in your account and synced to our servers, so they are not only on your phone.
  • We do not sell your data, and we never use your health data for advertising. Pressure Pal shows no ads.
  • You can delete your account and everything in it from inside the App. See How to delete your data.
  • We keep your data for as long as your account is active, and delete it within 30 days of a deletion request (within 90 days from backups).

1. Who we are

Pressure Pal is developed and operated by the Pressure Pal team ("we", "us", "our"). We are the controller of the personal data described in this policy.

For any privacy question or request, contact hello@pressurepal.app.

2. What we collect

2.1 Account information

You sign in with Sign in with Apple, Google Sign-In, or an anonymous device-based account. Depending on which you choose, we receive:

  • A unique account identifier.
  • Your email address, if your sign-in method provides one. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we only ever see Apple's private relay address.
  • Your display name, if provided by the sign-in method.

If you use an anonymous account, we do not receive your name or email at all — just a randomly generated identifier that links your entries to your account.

We never receive or store your Apple or Google password.

2.2 Health and symptom data you create

This is the core of the App, and all of it comes from you:

  • Pain intensity (mild, moderate, severe).
  • Symptom types, such as sinus pain or joint stiffness, including any custom symptoms you add.
  • Symptom duration.
  • Suspected triggers.
  • Treatments you used.
  • Free-text notes and observations.
  • The date and time of each entry.
  • The barometric pressure and weather conditions recorded alongside an entry, so your history and exported reports stay accurate.

Under the GDPR this is special category data concerning health. We process it only on the basis of your explicit consent, which you give when you create an account and begin journaling, and which you can withdraw at any time by deleting your account.

2.3 Location data

With your permission, the App uses your device location to show barometric pressure and weather for where you actually are, and to apply the correct time zone to your entries.

  • Location access is requested with a clear explanation and only used after you grant it.
  • You can decline or revoke it at any time in your device settings. If you do, features that depend on local conditions will be limited or unavailable.
  • Your coordinates are sent to our weather data provider to retrieve pressure readings for your area.
  • We do not use location for advertising, and we do not build or sell a profile of your movements. Beyond the conditions saved with an entry (Section 2.2), we do not keep a separate location history.

2.4 Device and technical information

To operate the App and diagnose problems, we collect basic technical details such as device model, operating system version, App version, language, and time zone, associated with a pseudonymous identifier rather than your name.

Apple and Google may also provide us with aggregated crash and performance reports for the App. Those are governed by their own policies and by the diagnostics settings on your device.

2.5 Usage analytics

We use a third-party analytics provider to understand how the App is used — for example which screens are opened, which features are used, and how often the App is launched. These events are tied to a pseudonymous identifier.

We do not send the contents of your journal entries, notes, or symptom details to our analytics provider, and we do not use analytics data to identify you personally.

2.6 Subscriptions and payments

Paid plans are sold and processed entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We never receive or store your card number, billing address, or other payment details. We receive only your subscription status and the receipt information needed to unlock paid features and handle restores and refunds.

2.7 Support and feedback

If you email us or submit our feedback form, we receive whatever you choose to include — your email address, your message, and any details you share about your experience. Our feedback form is hosted on Google Forms, and Google's privacy policy applies to your submission.

2.8 Website visitors

The Site does not use cookies, advertising pixels, or third-party analytics.

Two things are still worth knowing:

  • Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses, for security and reliability.
  • The city forecast pages fetch live pressure data directly from Open-Meteo in your browser. That request comes from your device, so your IP address is visible to Open-Meteo, and their privacy policy applies to it.

3. Why we use your data

We do not use your data for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

4. What we never do

  • We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
  • We do not show ads in Pressure Pal, and we do not share your health data with advertisers or data brokers.
  • We do not use your symptom entries to train third-party advertising or profiling systems.
  • We do not disclose your health data to your employer, insurer, or anyone else without your instruction, unless legally compelled (Section 8).

5. How long we keep your data

We keep personal data only for as long as we need it for the purposes above, or for as long as the law requires.

DataHow long we keep it
Account and profile informationFor as long as your account exists. Deleted within 30 days of a deletion request.
Symptom and journal entriesFor as long as your account exists, so your history and trends stay intact. Deleted within 30 days of a deletion request.
Pressure and weather conditions saved with an entryDeleted together with the entry it belongs to.
Location dataNot retained as a standalone location history. Coordinates sent to fetch a reading are used for that request and not stored as a separate record.
Usage analytics (pseudonymous)Up to 24 months, after which events are deleted or retained only in aggregated form that cannot be linked to you.
Support emails and feedbackUp to 24 months after the conversation is closed.
Subscription and receipt recordsFor the life of the subscription, and afterwards for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
Encrypted backupsRotated on a rolling cycle and fully purged within 90 days.
Website server logsA limited period for security and operations, typically no more than 90 days.

We do not automatically delete accounts for inactivity. If you stop using Pressure Pal, your data stays in your account until you ask us to delete it. If you no longer want us to hold it, use one of the methods in the next section.

Individual entries you delete yourself are removed from your account immediately and disappear from backups within the 90-day cycle above.

6. Exporting your data first

Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. If you want to keep a copy of your history — for your own records or for a healthcare provider — export it before you delete anything.

Paid subscribers can export a PDF or CSV report from the Journal or History screen, choosing the date range they need. If you cannot export a report yourself, email hello@pressurepal.app and we will send you a machine-readable copy of your data at no charge.

7. How to delete your data

You have two ways to have your data deleted. Both remove the same thing: your account and all the symptom entries, notes, settings, and identifiers associated with it.

Option 1 — Delete your account in the App (fastest)

  1. Open Settings in the App.
  2. Go to Account.
  3. Choose Delete Account and confirm.

Your account is closed immediately and the deletion described below begins right away. If you cannot find the option on your version of the App, use Option 2 and we will do it for you.

Option 2 — Ask us by email

Email hello@pressurepal.app with the subject line "Data deletion request".

Please include:

  • The email address or sign-in method associated with your account (Apple, Google, or anonymous).
  • If you use an anonymous account, tell us — we will explain how to find your account identifier in the App, since we have no other way to locate your data.

We may ask you to verify that the request is really yours before we act on it; this protects your health data from being deleted or exposed by someone else. We will confirm completion within 30 days of receiving a verified request.

What happens after a deletion request

  • Your account and all associated symptom data are removed from our live systems within 30 days.
  • Residual copies in encrypted backups are purged within 90 days. During that window backups are not used for any purpose other than disaster recovery.
  • Analytics identifiers linked to your account are deleted or disassociated so remaining events cannot be tied back to you.
  • We may retain a minimal record of purchases where tax and accounting law requires it. That record is kept isolated, used only for that legal purpose, and contains no health data.
  • Deletion is permanent. We cannot restore your history afterwards, even if you sign up again.

Important: uninstalling the App does not delete your data

Because your entries sync to your account on our servers, removing the App from your device does not delete anything on our side. Your data stays until you delete your account using Option 1 or Option 2.

Likewise, cancelling your subscription does not delete your data. Subscriptions are managed in your Apple App Store or Google Play account settings; cancelling stops billing but leaves your history in place so you can come back to it.

Deleting only part of your data

You do not have to delete everything. Inside the App you can remove your most recent pain entry with a long press, and edit or delete individual journal entries. Those changes take effect immediately.

8. Who we share data with

We do not sell your data. We share it only in these situations:

  • Service providers. We use vetted third parties for cloud hosting and database storage, product analytics, weather and barometric pressure data, and email and support tooling. They may process your data only on our instructions, are bound by confidentiality and data protection terms, and may not use it for their own purposes. A current list of our sub-processors is available on request at hello@pressurepal.app.
  • App stores. Apple and Google process your purchase and handle subscription management under their own privacy policies.
  • When you choose to share. Reports you export and send to a doctor, family member, or anyone else leave our control at the moment you share them.
  • Legal requirements. We may disclose data if we are legally required to, or where necessary to investigate fraud or abuse, enforce our terms, or protect the rights and safety of our users or the public. Where we are permitted to notify you of such a request, we will.
  • Business transfers. If Pressure Pal is ever involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may transfer to the successor. We will notify you in the App beforehand, and the successor will remain bound by this policy until you are told otherwise.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you have some or all of the following rights:

  • Access — get a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification — correct data that is wrong or incomplete.
  • Erasure — have your data deleted (see Section 7).
  • Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format, such as our CSV export.
  • Restriction and objection — ask us to limit or stop certain processing.
  • Withdraw consent — withdraw your consent to location access or to health data processing at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that already happened.

To exercise any of these, email hello@pressurepal.app. We respond within 30 days and never charge for a first request. If you are in the EEA or UK and are unhappy with our response, you may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

If you are in California, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and why, to request deletion or correction, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA and CPRA, and we have not done so in the preceding 12 months.

10. Security

We protect your data with encryption in transit (TLS) and encryption at rest, access controls that limit which of our systems and people can reach production data, and the principle of least privilege.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Two things are worth your attention:

  • If you use an anonymous account, anyone with access to your unlocked device has access to your journal. Consider using your device passcode or biometric lock.
  • Reports you export are ordinary PDF or CSV files. Once you email or share one, its security depends on where you sent it.

If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal data, we will notify you and the relevant regulators as required by law.

11. International data transfers

We and our service providers may store and process your data in countries other than your own, including outside the EEA and the UK. Where we transfer personal data internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision. You can request details at hello@pressurepal.app.

12. Children's privacy

Pressure Pal is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16 (or under 13 where local law sets a lower age). If you believe a child has provided us with data, email hello@pressurepal.app and we will delete it promptly.

13. Cookies and tracking

The App does not use cookies and contains no advertising trackers.

The Site does not use cookies, advertising pixels, or third-party analytics. Your browser may store a small amount of data locally to remember display preferences; that stays on your device and is never sent to us.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the App evolves. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If the change is material — for example a new category of data or a new purpose for using your health data — we will give you notice in the App and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent again.

This policy replaces our previous privacy policy dated December 31, 2025.
