Norcross sits at roughly 1,050 feet on the northern Georgia Piedmont, high enough and far enough north in the state to sit at the southern limit of several cool-season patterns that never reach central Georgia. The southern Appalachians rise about seventy miles to the north, and their influence is the key to winter here.
